It appears that Nintendo’s new console is off to a strong start. In fact, it might be the strongest start the company has ever had when it’s come to launching hardware.
The New York Times reporter Nick Wingfield says he recently had an interview with Nintendo Of America president Reggie Fils-Aimé and came back with some interesting information, particularly regarding the console’s early sales performance:
According to Wingfield, Fils-Aimé also says that The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild is the company’s best-selling launch title ever:Source: Twitter]
Since this information is coming from a series of tweets sent out by a reporter for a (albeit very reputable) publication, it might be best to view these statements with a grain of salt. But still, if true, this is pretty big second wind for Nintendo.
Of course, this is only the beginning, so it’ll be interesting to see how things play out once The Switch’s honeymoon period is over and people are looking to use the console to play something that isn’t The Legend of Zelda.
